Pragjyotishpur University, in collaboration with ICSSR, organized a two-day National Conference on “A Reflection on the Socio-Economic Impact of GST Reforms in North East India: Evidence, Trends, and Policy Insights.” The inaugural session featured addresses by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Smriti Kumar Sinha, Chancellor Lt. Gen. Rana Pratap Kalita (Retd.), and keynote speaker Dr. Prakash Borgohain, who emphasized the role of GST reforms in shaping economic growth and development in Northeast India. The two days comprised technical sessions on the impact of GST reforms on MSMEs, agriculture, tourism and hospitality, as well as fiscal transformation, revenue mobilization, and economic performance. Researchers and scholars presented papers on sectoral impacts, taxation trends, revenue generation, emerging opportunities, and policy concerns, leading to enriching academic discussions and exchange of research perspectives.
