Equal Opportunity Cell

In accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines aimed at ensuring equitable opportunities for Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), the Equal Opportunity Cell (composition given below) of Pragjyotishpur University is hereby constituted w.e.f. February 2, 2025. This is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, which emphasises accessibility, equity, and inclusivity in higher education.

The Equal Opportunity Cell shall function independently, without interfering with other cells in the HEI. It shall function as a statutory umbrella body to:

  • Protect the constitutional rights of SEDGs students.
  • Ensure the HEI is inclusive, safe, and secure for SEDGs students.
  • Provide socio-emotional and academic support and mentoring for students belonging to the SEDGs through proper counselling and mentoring programs.
  • Ensure proper implementation and monitoring of bridge courses designed by the HEIs to benefit SEDGs students.
  • Ensure implementation of all policies, including reservation policies and various schemes, programs, and guidelines of the Government of India.
  • Redress the grievances and complaints of the SEDGs students within 15 days through a Grievances Redressal Committee (GRC) without compromising the safety and dignity of the complainant.
