As per the directives of the University Grants Commission Regulations on ‘Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions’ (under Section 26 (1)(g) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956), published in the Gazette of India, dated 4 July 2009, the Anti-Ragging Committee (composition given below) of Pragjyotishpur University (PU) was formally constituted on Saturday, 16 December 2023.
Pragjyotishpur University abides by the UGC’s 'Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (third amendment), Regulations, 2016', and acknowledges the following definition of ragging as given therein: "Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background."
The Regulation serves as a guideline to identify and address instances of ragging that might arise within the University. Pragjyotishpur University treats ragging as a serious offense and adopts a zero-tolerance policy against perpetrators. Instances of ragging, if they occur, can be promptly brought to the notice of the Anti-Ragging Committee.
